Sock & Shoe Trends for Spring 2010
Socks take a leading role in 2010, from knee high to thigh high. Whereas fall/winter 2009 saw the reemergence of the sexy over the knee boots, these morph into over the knee socks for the warmer months. Wear socks with sandals, platforms, clogs or peep-toe shoe boots.
To compliment your 2010 wardrobe consider investing in three trending styles: knee high socks, over the knee socks and thigh high socks. Undoubtedly thigh high socks will make the greater statement, but styled correctly any can make an outfit. Pick the length wisely, they have to suit your body’s shape. Don’t be afraid to layer. Knee high socks and over the knee socks worn over sheer patterned stockings can add a whole new dimension to an outfit. Colour and texture can also add a focal point to your outfit. Find them in sporty, lacy or sparkly versions.
Ankle Boots
This trend continues into the warm weather. Summer boots are fun and funky with fabrics taking on a softer edge. Pair them with spring and summer’s chiffons.
Kitten Heels
The kitten heel is back. No need for sky high footwear, the kitten heel gives just enough height to compliment an outfit and give a lift to the legs.
Kitten heels were introduced for young teen girls and were sometimes called trainer heels. By the early 1960s, actresses including Audrey Hepburn popularized these heels for women of all ages.
One modern take on the classic kitten heel is the kitten-heeled wedge. This delicate wedge is an great choice for summer sandals and casual shoes.

Enter the clog or at least a reworked version for 2010. Clog inspired footwear is all set to become the biggest foot trend for spring, with big studs, in wooden wedges, platforms or heels. Wear them with socks, shorts, hot pants, jeans and simple shirt dresses. If there are clogs sitting in the closet then it’s time to give them an airing, as fashion footwear sees lower heels and chunkier clog inspired footwear.
